the vast variety of bird and wildlife species in the pristine sand dunes and marsh areas that make up this area.
The sugar white sand dunes of the Cranes Beach area continues to facinate visitors and locals who still marvel at the "Northern Carribean" aesthetics that make this area a summertime playpen for boaters, hikers, birdwatchers, and beachgoers.
With over two thirds of nearby Plum Island as a Federal Wildlife Refuge, the area provides multiple opportunities to experience the local habitat and wildlife species in it’s most natural setting. Though the Refuge is often closed for portions of the summer season to allow protected nesting of the endangered Piping Plover, exploring the Refuge from slightly afar by boat is still possible if powerful binoculars and telescopic lenses are used.
Just show up and watch the wild magic !
